Israeli Judoka Yitzhak Pizes Reaches Budapest Grand Slam Semifinals
Israeli judoka Yitzhak Pizes has advanced to the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament in Budapest, Hungary, in the under-60kg category. Pizes secured his spot by defeating opponents from Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, and Portugal. He overcame Doston Roziyev of Uzbekistan, Emil Jaring of the Netherlands, and Turlan Fernandes of Portugal in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, fellow Israeli judoka Gefen Primo, competing in the under-52kg division, will participate in the repechage rounds after losing her quarterfinal match to Naomi van Krevel of the Netherlands. Primo had previously won her opening match against Nicole Marquez of Brazil.
The Grand Slam event in Budapest serves as a final preparation for the upcoming World Judo Championships. The Israeli delegation includes 17 judokas.
