Hapoel Ramat Gan Eyes Striker Nicolăescu from Maccabi Tel Aviv
Hapoel Ramat Gan, newly promoted to the Israeli Premier League, has initiated talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv regarding the potential signing of striker Jon Nicolaescu. Nicolaescu is currently recovering from a significant anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained last December.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, who previously committed to covering Nicolaescu's full salary, are looking to find a solution for the player to free up a foreign player spot before the transfer window closes in five days. The club had expressed a desire to find a humane solution for the Moldovan forward after his injury, and had not ruled out freezing his contract.
Nicolaescu joined Maccabi Tel Aviv from Heerenveen and scored two goals in the first half of last season before his injury. He is estimated to be able to return to full fitness around November, after the international break.
Hapoel Ramat Gan signed foreign striker Marius Noubissi this summer. In their recent matches, the team has featured Matan Hozez, Luan Campos, and David Ankeye in their attack.
