Maccabi Tel Aviv Loans Striker Nicolăescu to Hapoel Ramat Gan
Hapoel Ramat Gan has finalized the loan signing of striker Ion Nicolaescu from Maccabi Tel Aviv until the end of the current season. The Moldovan forward, who is recovering from a lengthy injury sustained in December, was not in Maccabi Tel Aviv's plans. The club was willing to cover his full salary and sought a humane solution for the player, even considering freezing his contract.
Nicolaescu previously played for Beitar Jerusalem before joining Maccabi Tel Aviv from Hamburg. He scored two goals in the first half of the season before his injury. He anticipates a full return to fitness around November, after the international break.
Maccabi Tel Aviv's decision to loan Nicolaescu will free up a roster spot for an additional foreign player before the transfer window closes in five days. The team signed another foreign striker, Marius Noubissi, over the summer. In recent matches, Maccabi Tel Aviv has fielded Matan Hozez, Luan Campos, and David Asenka in their attack.
