Palestinian PM Meets EU Representative, Discusses West Bank and Gaza Situation

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa met with the new European Union Representative to the State of Palestine, Andreas Wiedner, on Thursday in Ramallah. The meeting, attended by Foreign Ministry officials, focused on the latest developments and field conditions in the Palestinian territories.

Mustafa briefed Wiedner on ongoing settler violence and attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank. He also highlighted Israeli measures including the continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, restrictions on the movement of people and goods through closures and checkpoints, land confiscation, and settlement expansion. The Prime Minister also addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza, detailing the "genocidal war and aggression" and the restrictions on humanitarian aid and recovery supplies.

Mustafa emphasized the importance of continuing efforts towards a two-state solution based on international resolutions, ending the occupation, establishing an independent Palestinian state, strengthening national institutions, and supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people. He also stressed the need to facilitate Palestinian elections, including in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.

Mustafa welcomed the new EU representative, wishing him success and offering support for his work. He acknowledged the significant role of the European Union in political, economic, and humanitarian support for the West Bank and Gaza.

Wiedner affirmed the EU's continued commitment to the two-state solution, the establishment of a Palestinian state, and strengthening cooperation between Palestine and the EU. He also pledged support for efforts to ensure the upcoming Palestinian elections are held.
