Sakhnin's 'Better Aging' Program Launches New Season

The "Peace Association" in Sakhnin has launched the 2026-2027 season of its community program, "Better Aging," with a celebratory event emphasizing that aging is a new beginning. The program aims to empower seniors and integrate them actively into society.

The opening ceremony, hosted by Mayada Zubaydat, saw significant participation from residents, seniors, and local officials. Sakhnin Mayor Mazen Ghanayem and Peace Association Chairman Kamal Rashid Tarabieh highlighted the importance of investing in people and supporting initiatives that give seniors a meaningful role. Ramy Shalaata, director of the daily center for the elderly, pledged the center's openness to valuable ideas that create opportunities for seniors and residents.

Fathi, whose full title was not specified, stated that investment in Sakhnin's retirees and elderly has improved, providing a comprehensive social service network tailored to their abilities and ages. Dr. Sohrab Masri, head of the Educational Counseling Master's program at Ramat Gan, delivered an inspirational lecture on the significance of activity and finding meaning in life. Sahar Qusum, the program coordinator, was recognized for her efforts in building partnerships and transforming ideas into spaces for learning, movement, and connection.

The event included a short film showcasing past program highlights and talents, followed by a musical performance. Thanks were extended to supporters, particularly municipal departments, for their contributions to the program's success.
