12-Year-Old Collapses at Ramat Gan Mall, Revived by Magen David Adom Medics

A dramatic incident unfolded Thursday evening at the Ayalon Mall in Ramat Gan when a 12-year-old boy collapsed and lost consciousness while inside a store. The emergency services received a report at 5:23 PM, dispatching Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics to the scene.

MDA volunteer medic Meir Azulai arrived within two minutes to find the boy unconscious, without breathing or a pulse. Azulai immediately began resuscitation efforts, administering two electric shocks with a defibrillator. Following the shocks, the boy's heart resumed beating, and he gradually regained consciousness.

A mobile intensive care unit from MDA arrived subsequently, continuing medical treatment and transporting the boy to Schneider Children's Medical Center for further care. Azulai described the scene, stating, "I arrived at the store and saw a boy about 12 years old lying unconscious, without breathing or a pulse. I immediately began life-saving treatment and using the defibrillator I had, I gave him two electric shocks. After that, his heart resumed beating and he gradually regained consciousness."

Paramedic Shai Pinchas, who arrived with the intensive care unit, reported that the boy was already in a semi-conscious state upon their arrival. The team continued medical treatment, administered medication, and evacuated him to Schneider Hospital with his condition stable and conscious. MDA emphasized that the rapid treatment provided by the volunteer medic, particularly the immediate use of the defibrillator and electric shocks, was a significant factor in saving the child's life.
