Prominent Rabbi and Educator Rivka Kalach Passes Away After Illness

Rabbi Rivka Kalach, a respected educator and legal scholar at the Lindenbaum Center of Ohr Torah Stone, has died following a battle with a serious illness. Kalach, who was also a lawyer by profession, had a successful career in senior positions at Israel Aerospace Industries before dedicating herself to Torah studies.

She joined the 'Kolel De'ah' program at the Lindenbaum Center, focusing on Halakha (Jewish law) and spiritual leadership. After five years of intensive study, she completed her program approximately three years ago. She continued her advanced studies in Choshen Mishpat (a section of Jewish law dealing with monetary matters) with Rabbi Shuki Reich.

Kalach was also a leader in the "Darkei Noam" community in Modi'in, answering numerous Halakhic questions and teaching Gemara and Halakha in various settings. Rabbi Dr. Yechiel Brandr, President of Ohr Torah Stone, described her as one of the "most brilliant, dedicated, and righteous students" of the Beit Midrash, noting her sharp intellect, deep thought, devotion to Torah, and compassionate heart.

Rabbi Chamatel Shoval, head of 'Kolel De'ah,' where Kalach studied, stated that Kalach was a "teacher of Halakha, a good friend, and a true leader," whose "Torah knowledge, love of Torah, and radiant countenance were a beacon for all the women in the Beit Midrash."

Kalach's passing is mourned by her husband Meir, her children and grandchildren, her mother, and her fellow students and study partners. She is remembered for her unique combination of scholarship, humility, sharp intellect, and deep human sensitivity.
