Prominent Religious Leader and Legal Scholar Rabbi Ravit Kalach Passes Away

Rabbi Ravit Kalach, a respected halachic decisor, spiritual leader, and former attorney, has died after a battle with a serious illness. Known for her deep engagement with Torah study and halacha, Rabbi Kalach made a significant career shift, leaving behind a successful legal practice to dedicate her life to religious scholarship.

She was ordained as a halachic decisor by the Or Torah Stone network and taught at the Lindenbaum Center. Rabbi Kalach was particularly noted for her expertise in monetary law and civil law, drawing from her legal background to address complex halachic questions. She contributed to the 'Meshibat Nefesh' project, answering intricate halachic inquiries.

The Beit Hillel organization of rabbis and rabbinates, of which she was an active member alongside her son Rabbi Oren, issued a heartfelt eulogy. They remembered her as a righteous woman who illuminated the world with her Torah scholarship and kindness, and expressed deep sorrow over her passing. The organization also acknowledged the unique bond she shared with her son, noting the rare instance of a mother and son studying together for halachic ordination within Beit Hillel.

Beit Hillel further highlighted Rabbi Kalach's meticulous and wise responses on the Meshibat Nefesh website, especially concerning complex financial matters. They pledged to remember her vibrant and illuminating Torah, quoting from Isaiah 58:11. The organization expressed their love and pain at her loss.
