Renowned Rabbi Meir Padeida, Educator and Community Leader, Dies at 55

Rabbi Meir Padeida, a prominent figure in the Orthodox Jewish world and the Mashgiach (spiritual supervisor) at the Orot Hatorah Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, has passed away. He collapsed at his home and was rushed to Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead after extensive resuscitation efforts by Hatzalah emergency medical responders.

Rabbi Padeida was known for his dedication to Torah scholarship and acts of kindness, serving as a close mentor to his students. He had a long history of serious medical challenges, including undergoing multiple kidney transplants and complex surgeries over the past 17 years. These treatments led to severe complications, including the amputation of his leg above the knee, and at times, doctors gave him little chance of survival. Despite his struggles, he maintained a spirit of faith and joy.

He was the son of the head of the Or Gaon institutions and the brother of music producer David Padeida. His passing has brought great sorrow to his family, students, and the wider community.
