Israel Sees Decline in Electric Vehicle Purchases
New data released by the Ministry of Energy on Thursday reveals a significant drop in the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in Israel. In 2024, EVs accounted for 25% of new car sales, a decrease from the previous year's 20% and a stark contrast to the 12% recorded in the first half of the current year. The Israeli government had previously set an ambitious target for EVs to constitute 90% of new car sales by 2030. However, current projections from the Ministry of Energy suggest that if government policies remain unchanged, this figure will only reach approximately 40% by 2030, and this estimate is contingent on continued government subsidies without reduction.
