New Interchange to Ease Traffic on Israel's Highway 2
A new transportation interchange is planned for Highway 2, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion between the industrial zones of Herzliya and Ramat HaSharon. The project, located near the Sira junction, was announced on Thursday, September 10, by the economic publication Calcalist, citing the Planning Administration. The initiative is being spearheaded by Netivei Ayalon and the Israel Land Authority.
The plan includes the construction of an arched bridge over the Coastal Highway (Highway 2), facilitating east-west travel. This bridge will also feature a dedicated bicycle path, sidewalks, and a shaded promenade. Concurrently, a bus lane will be established on Highway 2 between the HaSira and Glilot interchanges.
This new interchange is envisioned as part of a larger transportation network in the Sharon region. Additionally, a separate bridge, the Galil Yam bridge, is slated for construction over Highway 20.
