Andrade Leaves Maccabi Tel Aviv for Brazil's Recife, Forgoing Back Pay

Venezuelan international player Kerwin Andrade has departed Maccabi Tel Aviv after a disappointing year in Israel, returning to Brazil to join Recife. The move comes after Maccabi Tel Aviv acquired Andrade for 1.8 million euros last year, but he failed to impress, scoring only three goals and providing one assist in 28 league appearances. This season, he played only six minutes as a substitute in a European match against CSKA Sofia.

Recife, currently tenth in Brazil's second division, has secured an option to purchase Andrade for 2 million euros after his loan spell, acquiring 60% of his player rights. Notably, Andrade has agreed to waive outstanding payments owed to him by Maccabi Tel Aviv and will accept a lower salary at Recife. His agents had initially pushed for a move back to his home country, but Andrade preferred a return to Brazil, where he previously played for Fortaleza.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, whose contract with the 21-year-old player extends further, advised him to seek a loan to gain playing time and develop. Andrade had previously rejected offers from European clubs in favor of returning to Brazil.
