Haifa Film Festival Unveils International Lineup Featuring Boyle, Farhadi, Zvyagintsev
The 42nd Haifa International Film Festival, scheduled from September 26 to October 3 during the Sukkot holiday, has announced its international program. The festival will showcase new films from acclaimed directors including Danny Boyle, Nanni Moretti, François Ozon, Asghar Farhadi, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Lukas Dhondt, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Olivier Assayas.
The main international competition, "Carmel," will open with Danny Boyle's "All About My Father," which previously premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Also competing are Andrey Zvyagintsev's "The Sacrifice" (winner of the Cannes Grand Prix), Ryusuke Hamaguchi's "Evil Does Not Exist," Lukas Dhondt's war drama "Close," Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Monster," and François Ozon's "Drift Away."
Other notable films in the program include Asghar Farhadi's "The Salesman" and Olivier Assayas' political thriller "Suspended Time." The festival will conclude with Nanni Moretti's latest film, "A Brighter Tomorrow," starring Louis Garrel and Jasmine Trinca.
A special program will be dedicated to Barbra Streisand, featuring four of her films: "Funny Girl," "Hello, Dolly!," "A Star Is Born," and "Yentl," which marked Streisand's directorial debut. The Haifa festival's international program also encompasses documentary, animation, and genre films, alongside retrospectives and special screenings.
