Content Creator Shares Beloved Apple Pie Recipe for Rosh Hashanah
As the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, approaches, content creator Lior Maimon has shared her highly-regarded apple pie recipe, a staple on her family's holiday table. Maimon described the dessert as a family favorite that has even won over those who typically dislike apples, calling it 'the winning apple pie' she has ever made.
She told C14 that the pie represents more than just a dessert, symbolizing "family, pleasure, and delicate sweetness." The recipe, suitable for intermediate bakers, requires approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to prepare.
The ingredients are divided into three parts: the crust, the apple filling, and the streusel topping. The crust calls for white spelt flour, butter, sugar, salt, and cold water. The filling includes white spelt flour, white and brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and diced Granny Smith or Pink Lady apples. The streusel topping is made from white spelt flour, sugar, and cold butter.
Preparation involves mixing the filling ingredients, creating the streusel by rubbing butter into flour and sugar until crumbly, and then preparing the crust by creaming butter, sugar, and salt before adding flour and water to form a dough. The pie is assembled by lining a tart pan with the dough, filling it with the apple mixture, and topping it with the streusel. It is then baked at 180 degrees Celsius (356 Fahrenheit) for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
