Woman Accused of Nationwide Fraud Faces Charges After Confrontation
Margot Jessie Sitbon, 31, of Netanya, has been indicted on 16 counts of fraud, forgery, theft, and aggravated deception. The charges stem from a systematic scheme across Israel where Sitbon allegedly defrauded dozens of individuals, including business owners and the elderly, over several years. She would contact private sellers on Facebook Marketplace, promise payment for goods, and falsely claim to have transferred funds. In some instances, she used stolen checks and provided false information.
Sitbon was exposed in an upcoming investigative report by "HaNoklim" (The Con Artists) on N12. Following numerous victim testimonies, the investigative team confronted Sitbon for a filmed interview. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, with Sitbon and her companions reportedly attacking reporter Adva Dadon and the camera crew. Police were called to the scene, and Sitbon was arrested after a pursuit. Her detention was extended three times before the indictment was filed.
