Israeli Woman Arrested for Posing as Man in Online Romantic Scams Targeting Multiple Women

Israeli police in Petah Tikva arrested a woman in her 20s on suspicion of impersonating a man to conduct romantic and sexual relationships with several women via phone and the internet. The investigation began on July 26 after four women filed complaints stating that over the past years, each at different times, they had been deceived into believing they were in relationships with a man. The women later discovered the person behind the male identity was actually a woman.

Following the initial complaints, police identified a fifth alleged victim with a similar experience. On the day of the arrest, officers raided the suspect's apartment in Petah Tikva, seizing laptops, a mobile phone, and digital storage devices for forensic examination. The suspect is expected to appear in court for an extension of her detention, and authorities plan to request permission to publish her name to help identify additional victims.
