Israeli Woman Arrested for Posing as Man in Online Romantic Scams with Five Women

Police in Petah Tikva, central Israel, arrested a woman in her twenties suspected of impersonating a man to maintain romantic and sexual relationships with five women over several years. The investigation began two weeks ago following complaints from four women who reported long-term online and telephone relationships with the suspect, believing they were involved with a man. The women later discovered the person they were communicating with was actually a woman.

During a raid on the suspect's home in Petah Tikva, officers seized laptops, a mobile phone, and digital storage devices for further examination. Police subsequently identified a fifth victim with a similar experience. The suspect is expected to appear in court the following day for an extension of her detention. Authorities also plan to request permission to publish her name to encourage any additional victims to come forward.

The Israeli police emphasized the importance of vigilance when forming online relationships and pledged to continue efforts to expose crimes involving online impersonation and exploitation, aiming to protect victims and ensure accountability for offenders.
