Israel Unveils New AI Drones to Counter Border Threats

In response to the failures of the "See-Shoot" defense systems during the October 7th attacks, Israel has revealed a new autonomous weapon system developed by FUSE, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems. The system features AI-powered drones housed in camouflaged capsules, designed to identify incursions, engage targets, and activate other assets independently.

The drones are kept in a state of readiness within ground capsules, positioned near border areas. They can be deployed with a single button press in the event of a ground assault. The capsules are disguised as natural elements like rocks or sand dunes to blend into the landscape and avoid detection.

FUSE showcased its range of autonomous systems, which aim to transform battlefields into engagements between robots and autonomous platforms. These systems are capable of both ground and aerial attacks. The company highlighted the successful use of autonomous systems by Ukraine in recent battles against Russia.

Demonstrations included autonomous logistics convoys, casualty evacuation vehicles, and coordinated drone swarms capable of operating with significant firepower. The drones themselves boast a flight range exceeding 100 kilometers.
