Elbit Systems Unveils AI-Powered Autonomous Combat Systems

NEWSru Israel
Translated & summarized from NEWSru Israel by baba
The story · English

Elbit Systems' subsidiary FUSE has introduced a new line of autonomous, AI-driven combat systems designed to allow a single operator to simultaneously control numerous unmanned aerial vehicles and ground robots. The core concept, named One2Many, is built around the Dominion-X system. An operator assigns a mission, and the system then distributes tasks among the unmanned platforms, coordinating their actions and facilitating real-time data exchange.

According to Elbit, these systems are capable of operating even without GPS signal. FUSE showcased a range of products including reconnaissance and strike drones, swarms of tactical drones, autonomous ground vehicles, armored vehicle escort systems, and border security complexes. The company claims these technologies are already in use in Israel, the United States, and Europe.

FUSE emphasized that these developments do not aim for a complete replacement of human soldiers with robots. At least for the current stage, the final decision to strike will remain with a human operator. The company's unveiling coincides with an announcement by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir regarding the establishment of a new branch within the Israel Defense Forces.

"The drone, robot, and artificial intelligence corps will be responsible for this rapidly developing field," Zamir stated during the graduation ceremony for the 153rd naval officers' course. He added that this new corps will advance robotic capabilities across all three domains: land, air, and sea.
