Elbit Systems Launches New AI and Robotics Unit for Battlefield Dominance

Elbit Systems, Israel's largest defense exporter, has announced the launch of a new dedicated unit named "Fuse." This unit will consolidate all of the company's artificial intelligence and robotics technologies, aiming to connect various battlefield tools and provide advanced solutions to global militaries. The initiative has already secured significant contracts with the U.S. Army and European nations.

During the unit's unveiling at Elbit's facilities in Rosh Ha'ayin, the company showcased its core system, "One2Many." This AI-based operating system enables centralized command and coordination of large swarms of drones and ground robots. A small number of operators can simultaneously control dozens or even hundreds of autonomous vehicles, including autonomous tracked vehicles for fire support, robots for scanning booby-trapped structures, and various "Firefly" series drones.

Elbit emphasized that human oversight remains crucial, with the final decision on engaging targets always resting with a human operator to prevent harm to civilians. This strategic move by Elbit occurs concurrently with the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) increasing preparations. IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi announced that the military will establish a new unit focused on robotics, drones, and AI-based combat systems, expected to be operational by Hanukkah.
