Israel Railways Adjusts Rosh Hashanah Schedule With Service Halts and Special Runs
Israel Railways will significantly alter its schedule for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, with service halting entirely on the eve of the holiday and resuming only late on the final day. Passenger trains will operate on Friday, September 11, from approximately 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, following a modified Friday schedule with added trains on some routes due to anticipated demand. After 4:00 PM, all train services will cease.
A special arrangement will be in place for the Haifa-Tel Aviv route, increasing frequency to two trains per hour in each direction, up from the usual one, to accommodate holiday travelers. The Hadera-Mizrah to Rosh Ha'ayin Tzafon line will run one train per hour in each direction under a special holiday schedule.
Due to Rosh Hashanah falling on a Saturday this year, there will be no train service on Saturday, September 12. The holiday concludes on Sunday evening, September 13, at which point train services are scheduled to resume around 9:30 PM, operating on a schedule similar to a Saturday night after Shabbat ends. The initial hours of resumed service may experience heavy passenger loads as people who have been unable to travel during the holiday begin their journeys home.
Additionally, in connection with the Selichot period preceding Rosh Hashanah, night trains will have extended service between Herzliya and Jerusalem-Yitzhak Navon stations on the nights of September 8-9 and September 15-16. This extension bypasses the usual terminus at Ben Gurion Airport, specifically for passengers traveling to Jerusalem.
