Rabbi Zerbib Shares War Experiences, Notes Soldier Spiritual Awakening

Rabbi Avraham Zerbib, a rabbinical judge, recounted his experiences during the ongoing war in Gaza and the spiritual shifts he has observed among soldiers and the Israeli public. Speaking at an event for the "Or Ve'Yeshua" yeshiva in Haifa, Rabbi Zerbib stated that his role is secondary to the imperative of victory, explaining his decision to continue serving despite his judicial position. "What does my role matter? What does it matter if I am a judge or not? This war must be won," he declared.

Rabbi Zerbib described witnessing a profound change in people since the war's commencement, noting a widespread feeling that something significant is occurring. He spoke of "miracles and wonders" but emphasized the equally significant internal transformation occurring within individuals. He shared an anecdote about a soldier who had not donned tefillin since his bar mitzvah but began doing so daily due to the war's impact.

The rabbi shared these reflections during the annual conference of the "Or Ve'Yeshua" yeshiva, held in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The event also featured Rabbi David Lau, Chairman of the "Rosh Yehudi" organization, Yisrael Zeira, and Rabbi Eliyahu Zini, the head of the yeshiva.
