Oshrat Cohen's 'Everyone is a Thief' Named Song of the Year in Israeli Music Awards

The annual Hebrew music charts for 5786 (2025-2026) have concluded, with Oshrat Cohen's "Everyone is a Thief" (Kulom Ganavim) taking the coveted "Song of the Year" award. The results were announced during a special broadcast hosted by Maya Bat-Zel Assis, Eran Susa, Noy Ben Haim, and Amit Harari, a joint production by radio station Kan Gimel and content platform ForReal.

This year's awards saw unprecedented public engagement, with over 700,000 listener and user votes cast to determine the year's most prominent songs, artists, and works in Israeli music. The voting process highlighted the significant role of audience participation in shaping the music landscape.

Other major awards included "Artists of the Year," which went to Odia, Ben Tzour, and Itay Levy. Itay Levy also secured "Album of the Year" for "13." Roai Adam was recognized as "Breakthrough Artist of the Year," while Mor won "EP of the Year" for "6FM." The "Viral Song of the Year" was awarded to "He's Gay" (Hu Gay) by Liad H, featuring a special performance by Noam Kleinstein.

An "Iconic Moment of the Year" category was introduced, with Noa Kirel's filming of a music video for her song "Brideszilla" during her own wedding ceremony earning the distinction. A notable moment highlighted during the awards was a remixed version of Itay Levy and Mor's "Crazy Girl" (Yalda Metzufet), which garnered 1.6 million views on YouTube.

Barak Itskovitz, Music Director at Kan Gimel, described the awards as a "celebration and joy" for Israeli creativity, especially after years marked by war, mourning, and pain. He emphasized that Israeli music has once again become a source of pride and emotion, with audiences actively supporting local artists. Eran Susa, Editor-in-Chief of ForReal, expressed anticipation for the upcoming year's music following the successful collaboration and high voter turnout.
