Hapoel Ramat Gan is expected to announce on Thursday that it has signed midfielder Maksim Plakushchenko, who is leaving Maccabi Netanya after the club decided not to continue with him. The move keeps him in the Israeli Premier League and makes him a central figure in Ramat Gan’s midfield.
Plakushchenko chose Ramat Gan over other options after speaking with coach Masi Dego, who told him he would count on him and believes he can fill the attacking midfield roles previously held by Gidi Kanyuk and Moti Barshatsky.
He is not the only notable Israeli addition for the newly promoted side. As previously reported by Sport Channel, the club has also reached an agreement with Maccabi Haifa goalkeeper Sharif Kiof, who would reunite with Dego.
Kiof’s presentation at Hapoel Ramat Gan depends on his release from Maccabi Haifa, and the expectation is that this will happen once the goalkeeper situation at Haifa becomes clearer. In the meantime, the club is waiting for him.
