Kfar Manda Resolves Blood Feud Between Zidan and Dharaghmeh Families
Kfar Manda has officially ended a blood feud between the Zidan and Dharaghmeh families with a reconciliation ceremony, according to the head of the local council, Ali Khader Zidan. Zidan expressed hope that relations between the two families would return to normal.
He emphasized that the tribal reconciliation does not negate the judicial process, stating that legal proceedings will continue and those found guilty will face punishment according to the law. Zidan explained on the "Yom Jadid" program that the reconciliation aims to halt cycles of revenge and bloodshed, asserting that murder cases should be addressed through customary and judicial channels, not through vengeance or targeting innocents.
Despite the severity of the crime that preceded the feud, Kfar Manda managed to contain the ensuing anger and prevent further escalation, such as arson or attacks on uninvolved individuals. Zidan noted that hundreds of young men gathered after the crime's news broke, but the intervention of elders and community leaders, coupled with awareness campaigns and de-escalation efforts, helped calm the situation, especially given the initial lack of clarity surrounding the crime's details. The council head affirmed that the town maintained its neighborly relations and prevented harm to innocents or threats to residents' security.
Zidan confirmed the full commitment of both families to the reconciliation agreement, with members of the Dharaghmeh family attending the ceremony and all agreed-upon conditions being finalized. He hopes Kfar Manda's experience can serve as a model for other Arab communities, urging a return to religious, ethical, and rational values in conflict resolution.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to resolve daily disputes through local mediators and reformers, fostering a culture of conflict resolution. While no major inter-family conflicts are currently active, routine disagreements are being addressed rationally and peacefully.
