Rubinstein Piano Competition Winners Announced in Tel Aviv

The winners of the 18th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition were announced on the evening of September 8th at the Heichal HaTarbut concert hall in Tel Aviv. The prestigious competition saw six pianists reach the final round, with an international jury selecting the laureates. Dmitry Yudin secured first place, earning a $50,000 prize. Second place was a tie between Vladislav Khandogiy and Chinhyeon Park, with each receiving $20,000. Roman Fedyurko took third place and a $10,000 prize.

Additional awards, including the Audience Choice Award, Best Chamber Music Performance Award, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Musicians' Award, along with encouragement prizes, will be presented on Wednesday, September 9th, also at Heichal HaTarbut. A concert featuring the competition's winners, accompanied by the Israel Camerata, will follow the award ceremony.

Ariel Cohen, the competition's artistic director, highlighted the event's significance, stating, "The fact that we are here tonight in Tel Aviv, concluding the competition with six outstanding young pianists who came to the finals from all over the world, is already a huge achievement." He acknowledged the challenges faced, noting, "This year we had to deal with a complex security situation and postpone the finals from May to September. But it was absolutely clear to us: we cannot refuse to hold the competition. This competition exists to bring people from different countries together. I am proud of all the participants, the competition team, and everyone who helped us along the way."

This year's competition featured 39 pianists from 18 countries. The international jury was chaired by renowned pianist and educator Professor Arie Vardi. Jury members included Martha Argerich, Akiko Ebi, Taisir Elias, Ian Fountain, Pavel Gililov, Yocheved Kaplinsky, Ella Milch-Sheriff, Piotr Paleczny, and Su Jang Shin.
