Referee Appointed for Tel Aviv Derby Sparks Controversy
The Israeli Football Association has announced the referees for the upcoming fourth round of the Premier League, with David Foxman assigned to officiate the highly anticipated Tel Aviv derby between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv at Bloomfield Stadium. This appointment carries particular significance for Hapoel Tel Aviv, as Foxman was the referee the last time they secured a derby victory, ending a 12-year winless streak against their rivals.
In addition to the Tel Aviv derby, several other key matches have been assigned. Gal Levi will referee the game between Hapoel Petah Tikva and Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Naal Odeh will officiate the match between Bnei Sakhnin and Hapoel Haifa, while Nir Levi is assigned to the game between Hapoel Ramat Gan and Maccabi Netanya. Aviv Klein will referee Maccabi Haifa's match against Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.
Two other matches are scheduled for Tuesday. Orel Grinfeld will manage the game between Hapoel Jerusalem and Ironi Tiberias, and Gal Leibovitz will officiate the encounter between Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Petah Tikva.
