Cleanliness Tops List of Israeli Hotel Guest Priorities
A recent survey conducted by Caesar Hotels in collaboration with the "Maagar Mohot" research institute reveals key insights into Israeli vacation habits and preferences. The study, which aimed to understand how Israelis choose hotels, their information sources, and their priorities during stays, found that while international travel is popular, domestic hotels remain a significant part of Israelis' vacation routines. Approximately 65% of Israelis stay in hotels within the country at least once a year, compared to a slightly lower percentage for international hotel stays.
When it comes to booking, the survey highlights a strong trend towards independent online reservations. A significant 73% of respondents reported booking hotels themselves via the internet or mobile apps, with only a small fraction utilizing travel agents. This indicates a growing consumer independence among Israeli travelers who actively compare prices and read reviews before making a booking.
Traditional information sources continue to hold sway over social media influence. The majority of Israelis (65%) rely on hotel websites for information, followed closely by recommendations from family and friends (57%). While platforms like Facebook (35%) and Instagram (22%) are used, they lag behind direct sources and personal recommendations. Influencers were cited as an information source by only 11% of respondents.
Price and promotions are the leading factors in hotel selection for 79% of Israelis. However, the survey emphasizes that price alone is not sufficient. Service quality (59%), cleanliness (56%), reviews and recommendations (53%), and location (51%) are also crucial considerations. Flexible cancellation policies and room size were noted by 29% each.
Inside the hotel room, cleanliness emerges as the paramount concern for 81% of Israelis. A comfortable bed (76%) and quality air conditioning (71%) are also high priorities. Spacious rooms and balconies were important to 54%, followed by well-equipped bathrooms (51%) and Wi-Fi (49%).
