Geely Boosts Electric Vehicle Range in Israel Without Price Increases

Chinese automaker Geely is enhancing the driving range of its electric and plug-in hybrid models in Israel, aiming to alleviate "range anxiety" among consumers. The company is increasing the battery capacity in its E5 model, previously known as the EX5, without raising its price. The E5 now features a larger 68.39 kWh battery, extending its WLTP-rated range to up to 475 km for the PRO trim and 470 km for the TECH trim. This upgrade allows for approximately a Tel Aviv to Metula and back trip on a single charge.

The Starray EM-i family also receives an upgrade with the new ULTRA trim. This version boasts a significantly larger 29.8 kWh battery, enabling up to 136 km of electric-only driving, an increase from the previous 83 km. The combined range for the Starray EM-i reaches up to 996 km. Additionally, the ULTRA trim features faster DC charging, reducing the time to charge from 30% to 80% from 20 minutes to 16 minutes, and includes a massage function for the front seats.

These range improvements are being implemented as Geely experiences substantial growth in the Israeli market. From January to August, Geely delivered 5,589 vehicles in Israel, a 120% increase year-over-year, positioning the brand ninth overall. The EX5 was the second best-selling mainstream electric model, and the Starray EM-i has garnered over 5,000 orders this year.

Geely vehicles are distributed in Israel by Geo Mobility, part of the Union Group, with a national service network and 12 dealerships. The cars come with a 6-year or 150,000 km warranty, and the batteries are covered for 8 years or 150,000 km. The company states these updates aim to make electric vehicle ownership simpler, more economical, and convenient for Israeli drivers.
