Israeli City Flag Raised at Paris Suburb Plaza Honoring Sister Cities
The flag of the Israeli city of Kiryat Malachi was raised in Rueil-Malmaison, a suburb of Paris, on Monday during the inauguration of a new square dedicated to the commune's international partnerships. Named "Place des Villes-Jumelées" (Square of Twin Towns), the space honors the friendship ties Rueil-Malmaison maintains with its eleven partner cities globally, including Kiryat Malachi in southern Israel.
The ceremony was led by Rueil-Malmaison Mayor Patrick Ollier, accompanied by local officials, the prefect of Hauts-de-Seine Alexandre Brugère, and parliamentary representative Pierre Cazeneuve. Representatives and delegations from the various twin cities were also in attendance.
The municipality highlighted that these partnerships are built on cultural, sporting, educational, and solidarity initiatives, alongside institutional exchanges and travel. Assaf Moran, Israel's Minister Plenipotentiary to France, described the moment as deeply moving. "In this very difficult period, I felt immense pride and great emotion seeing Kiryat Malachi and the Israeli flag represented here," he stated, thanking the municipality and Mayor Ollier for the "magnificent gesture of friendship and solidarity."
