State Appeals Sentence for Man Convicted of Inciting Parents to Sexually Abuse Children

Israel's State Prosecutor's Office has filed an appeal against the sentence of Uri Alfi, who was recently convicted of severe sex offenses, including inciting fathers to sexually abuse their own children. Alfi was sentenced to 17 years in prison, conditional sentences, and ordered to pay 200,000 shekels in compensation to the ten victims.

The prosecution argues that the 17-year sentence is insufficient given the extreme severity and nature of Alfi's crimes, the number of offenses and victims, his sophistication, and his high sexual dangerousness. Alfi was convicted on 11 counts, including causing and attempting to cause rape, indecent acts, extortion by threats, possession of obscene material, and using minors' bodies for obscene publications.

In some cases, Alfi directly contacted fathers of young children, convincing them to sexually abuse their children, sometimes while observing the abuse via video call and providing instructions. In other instances, he attempted to coerce fathers into committing severe sexual offenses against their children and blackmailed one father to continue his actions.

The prosecution contends that the district court improperly overlapped sentences for different charges, failing to adequately reflect the harm caused to each individual victim. They also argue that Alfi's sentence was placed at the lower end of the sentencing range, giving undue weight to personal circumstances and rehabilitation potential, especially after he refused a pre-sentence probation report and was deemed a high sexual risk.

The State Prosecutor's Office emphasizes that the unprecedented nature of these offenses, combining online sexual abuse with the incitement of parents to abuse their children within the family, necessitates a harsher sentence to reflect the gravity of the acts, protect the public, and serve as a genuine deterrent.
