Susan Sarandon Claims Hollywood Blacklist Due to Pro-Palestine Stance

Actress Susan Sarandon stated at the Venice Film Festival on September 6 that she continues to be sidelined in Hollywood due to her pro-Palestinian views, attributing this to the influence of "Zionists" within the film industry and U.S. politics. Sarandon, an Oscar winner, revealed at a press conference for her new film "Echo Chamber" that major studios and producers are deliberately not hiring her because of her long-standing support for Palestinians.

Sarandon also commented on U.S. financial aid to Israel, suggesting that ordinary Americans are beginning to understand the extent of these funds used for military actions. She directly linked her career difficulties to pressure from what she described as an influential "Zionist lobby" that maintains a firm stance against her.

The actress has previously supported the Palestinian slogan "from the river to the sea," which is widely interpreted as a call for the elimination of the state of Israel. Sarandon noted a global shift in public opinion towards understanding the Palestinian narrative.

This situation follows a public disassociation from the actress by the UTA agency in late 2023. In a 2024 interview with The Times, Sarandon claimed she was effectively blacklisted to intimidate other industry professionals.

She expressed gratitude to "Echo Chamber" director Andrea Pallaoro for disregarding warnings and prohibitions against working with her. In the film, Sarandon plays a veteran singer working on a significant album with a recovering music producer. Sarandon won her Best Actress Oscar in 1996 for her role in "Dead Man Walking."
