Susan Sarandon Claims Hollywood Blacklisting Over Anti-Israel Stance
Veteran actress Susan Sarandon, 77, stated at the Venice Film Festival that she has lost Hollywood roles due to her opposition to Israel. Sarandon alleges that certain agencies are actively warning producers against working with her, resulting in the loss of several recent film offers. According to Israeli outlet Channel 14, Sarandon accused influential industry figures of hindering her employment.
Critics, however, suggest Sarandon is overlooking past events that led to these consequences. In 2023, following the October 7th attacks, Sarandon participated in pro-Palestinian protests. During one rally, she controversially stated that American Jews experiencing fear at that time were "feeling what it is like to be a Muslim in this country." This remark generated significant backlash, leading the prominent Hollywood agency UTA to terminate its contract with her.
Despite professional setbacks and lost contracts, Sarandon maintains she is content and has found like-minded individuals, emphasizing that she still has access to stages and microphones.
