Susan Sarandon Claims Career Setbacks Over Pro-Palestinian Stance

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon stated that she is losing acting opportunities due to her outspoken support for Palestinians, despite what she described as a "growing shift in public opinion against American support for Israel." Speaking at the Venice Film Festival while promoting her latest film, "The Echo Chamber," Sarandon indicated that certain figures within the film industry are still shunning her over her position.

"I think the narrative has completely changed regarding the historical ties to Palestine and the relationship of Zionists with America and our policies," Sarandon said. She added that the scale of US funding for Israel, which she believes many were unaware of, has been a significant revelation for people.

Recent American polls have shown declining support for Israel and increased sympathy for Palestinians since the outbreak of the Gaza war in 2023. However, the 79-year-old actress asserted that her advocacy for the Palestinian cause continues to have professional repercussions.

"I have been recently removed from films because there are agencies that are still telling people not to hire me," she told reporters. "But that's the nature of the power structure. I think I am welcomed by people, and certainly internationally."
