New Pocket Book Accuses Europe of Hypocrisy, Colonialism in Africa

Matan Peleg, former chairman of the Im Tirtzu organization and currently a strategic advisor, has released a new pocket-sized book titled 'Pirates of the Globe.' The book details alleged historical and ongoing wrongdoings by European nations in Africa, aiming to provide Israelis with 'explanatory ammunition' against criticism from the European Union.

Peleg argues that European nations, while criticizing Israel, have themselves engaged in exploitation and oppression in Africa. He cites examples such as European funding for left-wing organizations in Israel that opposed legislation to curb African immigration, while European countries like Italy and others paid significant sums to figures like Muammar Gaddafi and the Moroccan government for cooperation in deporting African migrants. The book also details the looting of thousands of archaeological treasures from African nations, including items from ancient Egypt, by Britain, which now display these artifacts in their leading museums.

According to Peleg, exposing these historical European actions would reveal British hypocrisy and embarrass the British government, while also fostering political alliances between Israel and African nations. He believes a deeper understanding of colonialism would empower Israeli public diplomacy, countering the narrative that labels Israelis as colonialists. Peleg contrasts European colonialism, which he describes as involving the seizure of land, looting of resources, and enslavement of Africans, with Israel's role in the region.

Peleg emphasizes the undeniable historical connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel, distinguishing it from the colonial claims of European powers in Africa or South America. He condensed this information into a two-hour read to make it accessible. Peleg stated that understanding this history strengthens the Jewish people and their connection to their land, serving both as a defense against external attacks and an internal reinforcement of their historical claims.

He advocates for individual Israelis to engage in public diplomacy, especially in the social media age, rather than relying solely on official bodies like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Peleg plans to distribute a special edition of the book to Israeli embassies and consulates worldwide, believing that such information could have been used to counter actions like Italy's arms embargo against Israel by highlighting European hypocrisy.
