Or Yehuda Municipality Celebrates New Year with Staff Recognition

The Or Yehuda Municipality and its economic development company held a festive gathering to mark the start of the Hebrew year 5787. The event, held at EYO Halls in Or Yehuda, focused on unity, acknowledging the city's achievements, and honoring its human capital. Mayor Liאת Shohat reviewed the city's significant development and achievements, including record high school graduation rates, seventh-highest per-student investment nationally, and excellence in building supervision and urban policing. She highlighted the city's resilience through complex security challenges, emphasizing the staff's professionalism and dedication as its stable anchor.

The mayor detailed ongoing urban renewal projects, the absorption of thousands of new residents, and the establishment of public and community institutions, reiterating that resident service remains the top priority. The event included blessings from the city rabbi, Rabbi Tzion Cohen, Municipal Director Gil Gabriel, and Workers' Organization Chair Yonit Bisur, who praised the close cooperation and commitment to employee welfare and city development.

A particularly emotional segment honored employees retiring after decades of service. Among those recognized were Dr. Esti Eshel, who led the Social and Community Services Department for 30 years; Adv. Shlomit Spindel, the municipal legal advisor for 18 years; Dr. Ronit Geller, director of the psychological-educational service for 18 years; and Nurit Shulman, head of the environmental unit and former mayor's office chief of staff, after 43 years. Appreciation was also extended to education supporter Yaffa Reshti and custodian Nisan Khabasov for their long service.

The event culminated in an awards ceremony for outstanding employees who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, initiative, and dedication. Recipients included Itai Digmi, Mai Shmaryahu, Ido Vaknin, Rinat Shaked, and Gila Micha.
