Local Council Head Withdraws Candidacy from Hadash List

Samir Abu Zeid, head of the local council in the town of Eilabun, announced on Tuesday, September 7, 2026, that he is withdrawing his candidacy from the Hadash (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality) party list. He explained that his initial agreement to run came after a fellow party member, Jaafar Farah, had announced his withdrawal from the candidacy on September 4th. Abu Zeid emphasized that Farah's decision on whether to continue his candidacy was solely his own. Now that Farah has decided to proceed with his candidacy, Abu Zeid feels the original reason for his own nomination no longer exists.
