Hapoel Jerusalem Signs Zambian Forward Edward Chilufya on Loan
Hapoel Jerusalem has officially signed Zambian forward Edward Chilufya on loan for the 2026-27 season. The 26-year-old, who previously scored against Maccabi Tel Aviv in European competition, joins the Israeli Premier League club from Danish side FC Midtjylland.
Chilufya brings a wealth of experience from Scandinavian leagues and European tournaments. He spent four seasons with Djurgårdens IF, winning the Swedish league and cup, before being transferred to Midtjylland in 2022 for approximately 2.4 million euros. With Midtjylland, he secured two Danish Cup titles. He also had a successful loan spell with Swedish club BK Häcken.
Throughout his career, Chilufya has recorded 39 goals and 21 assists. He has played in the UEFA Europa League group stage four times and has one goal in 21 appearances for the Zambian national team. He previously played for Djurgården and BK Häcken in Sweden.
"I am excited to come to Jerusalem and look forward to pushing each other to reach our potential," Chilufya stated upon signing. "With hard work, the results will come. I can't wait to meet the fans, hear them, and make them proud. I will give all my energy, fight, and passion. Yalla Hapoel!"
