Zambian Players Use Israeli Premier League as Proven Route to European Football

Following Kings Kangwa's transfer from Hapoel Be'er Sheva to Greek club Panathinaikos, another Zambian footballer is reportedly on his way to Europe. Chipi Chonga, currently playing for Hapoel Petah Tikva, is being targeted by Portuguese club Moreirense, with negotiations already underway. Zambian media highlighted the Israeli Premier League's significant role in advancing Zambian players to European leagues, citing recent examples including Kangwa and Chonga. They recalled previous players such as Emmanuel Mayuka, Lamka Benda, Rogers Kola, William Njovu, and Justin Zulu who also used Israel as a stepping stone to Europe. The league is described as a "clear and proven path" from Zambia to European football, emphasizing that success depends on how players capitalize on the opportunity.
