Hapoel Jerusalem Signs Zambian Forward Edward Chilufya from FC Midtjylland
Hapoel Jerusalem has officially signed Zambian national team forward and winger Edward Chilufya, the club announced Monday. The 26-year-old joins the Israeli Premier League club on loan until the 2026-27 season from Danish side FC Midtjylland.
Chilufya brings a notable resume to Jerusalem, having previously played for top Scandinavian clubs and competed in European tournaments. He spent four seasons with Djurgårdens IF in Sweden, winning the league and the Swedish Cup. In 2022, FC Midtjylland purchased him for 2.4 million euros. With the Danish club, he won two cups, and during a loan spell with Swedish side BK Häcken, he scored 39 goals and provided 21 assists across his career.
He has also played in the UEFA Europa League group stage four times and scored against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Chilufya has one goal in 21 appearances for the Zambian national team. He previously had loan spells at BK Häcken and Djurgårdens IF.
"I am excited to come to Jerusalem and look forward to pushing each other to reach our potential," Chilufya stated at the signing. "With hard work, the results will come. I can't wait to meet the fans, hear them, and make them proud. I will give all my energy, fight, and passion. Let's go Hapoel!"
