Hapoel Jerusalem Signs Zambian Forward Edward Chilufya on Loan
Hapoel Jerusalem has officially signed Zambian international forward Edward Chilufya on loan for the 2026-27 season. The 26-year-old attacker, who can play as a forward or winger, joins from Danish club FC Midtjylland. Chilufya has a notable career in Scandinavian football, having previously played for Djurgården in Sweden, where he won a league title and a cup. He was transferred to Midtjylland in 2022 for approximately 2.4 million euros and has won two Danish Cup titles with them. He also had a successful loan spell at Swedish club Häcken.
Chilufya has scored 39 goals and provided 21 assists in his career so far, including appearances in the UEFA Europa League group stage, where he scored against Maccabi Tel Aviv. He has also represented Zambia, scoring one goal in 21 appearances for his national team.
Upon signing, Chilufya expressed his excitement about joining Hapoel Jerusalem. "I am excited to come to Jerusalem and look forward to us pushing each other to reach our potential. With hard work, the results will come," he stated. "I can't wait to meet the fans, hear them, and make them proud. I will give all my energy, fight, and passion. Let's go Hapoel!"
The signing is considered an unusual acquisition for the Israeli Premier League, bringing a player with experience in top European club competitions.
