Rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg Leads Selichot Prayers in Jerusalem

Kikar HaShabbatReligious
Translated & summarized from Kikar HaShabbat by baba
The story · English

The Rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg, currently on a visit to Israel, led hundreds of his followers in the first Selichot prayers of the season at the Bialla synagogue on Jacobson Street in Jerusalem. The prayers took place early Sunday morning, with the Rebbe himself leading the service with great emotion and fervor.

A highlight of the event occurred before the recitation of 'Shema Koleinu' (Hear Our Voice), when the Rebbe ascended to the Ark of the Covenant and delivered a passionate sermon. He spoke about the importance of repentance during these days and the need for proper preparation for the upcoming High Holy Days.

The Rebbe's visit to the Holy Land has been described as uplifting for his many Hasidim and admirers in Israel. Photographer Shuki Lerer, who has been documenting Selichot services across the country, captured the moving event at the Bialla synagogue.

Lerer also photographed the Rebbe earlier that night, after the conclusion of Shabbat, as he performed the Havdalah ceremony, marking the end of 36 consecutive hours of observance.
