Israelis Shatter Spending Records During Summer Vacation
Israelis spent a record-breaking 109.045 billion shekels on credit and debit cards during the summer vacation months of July and August 2026. This figure represents a 7.9% increase compared to the 101.068 billion shekels spent in the summer of 2025. Over the past five years, summer spending has surged by more than 40%, up from 77.801 billion shekels in July-August 2022.
August 2026 alone saw spending reach 54.115 billion shekels, an increase of over 4.9 billion shekels, or 10%, compared to August 2025's 49.206 billion shekels. The daily average spending in August was 1.746 billion shekels. While this represents a slight 1.4% decrease from July 2026's daily average of 1.771 billion shekels, August marked the third consecutive month where the daily average exceeded 1.7 billion shekels.
