IDF Strikes Hamas Infrastructure After Gaza Device Hits Military Vehicle

The Israeli military conducted overnight airstrikes on Hamas infrastructure in Gaza in response to an explosive device detonating on an IDF engineering vehicle. The vehicle, identified as a "Panda" type, struck the mine along the "yellow line" in northern Gaza.

No soldiers were injured in the incident, which the IDF described as a "blatant violation" of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas. The military is investigating when the device was placed. The IDF stated that forces in the Southern Command are deployed according to the agreement and will continue to act against immediate threats.

Israeli defense officials view the incident seriously, characterizing it as a deliberate breach by Hamas intended to allow the terror group to rebuild. This follows a week in which the IDF eliminated five Hamas company commanders and four platoon commanders, and captured the head of the organization's internal security.

According to security sources, Hamas feels cornered and is resorting to terror acts and attempts at rehabilitation. Recent reports indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have directed the IDF to develop a plan for a pilot regional model in Gaza, similar to operations in southern Lebanon.

This proposed model, discussed with U.S. coordination, would involve designating specific areas in Gaza for international forces to clear, establish governance, and prevent Hamas operatives from returning. Unlike in Lebanon, where the IDF maintains observation but not physical presence in certain areas, Gaza's situation is more complex due to the absence of a recognized governing entity to manage civilian affairs.
