Ayelet Shaked to Join Likud, Forego Upcoming Election Bid

Ayelet Shaked has decided not to run in the upcoming elections, opting instead to join the Likud party. Her move is intended to allow her to accumulate the necessary seniority within Likud before seeking a candidacy in future elections. This decision follows a period where Shaked explored various options to re-enter political life in the current election cycle.

Just last month, reports indicated Shaked was in negotiations with Benny Gantz regarding a potential joint run. The proposed arrangement would have seen Gantz lead the joint list, with Shaked receiving a primary ministerial appointment if their bloc joined the coalition. Shaked emphasized her desire for significant political influence, while Gantz was unwilling to cede the top spot on the list.

During this time, Shaked also engaged in discussions with other figures in the Religious Zionism party, including Ranana, Dr. Aliza Bloch, and others. These talks were part of broader efforts to form a "third bloc" of parties, aiming to consolidate support and prevent smaller parties from failing to cross the electoral threshold.

Ultimately, Shaked chose not to join any existing frameworks for the upcoming elections. She is now expected to register as a Likud member, gain the required tenure, and aim for a spot on the party's list in the subsequent election.
