Israeli Minister Chaim Katz in Heated Confrontation with Minister Gila Gamliel's Husband

A heated and unusual confrontation occurred on Sunday at the Likud party's tribunal between Minister Chaim Katz and attorney Hovav Damari, the husband of Minister Gila Gamliel. Video circulating on social media shows Katz aggressively confronting Damari during a break in a discussion about party candidate placements, gesturing with an extended middle finger and shouting expletives.

A woman present in the background can be heard stating that the incident is being recorded and will be sent to news outlets.

The altercation arises amidst Gamliel's struggle to secure a favorable position on the party's electoral list. Last week, following a recount of primary ballots in Be'er Yaakov, Gamliel was pushed to the 35th spot, considered non-viable, after Eti Atiya, who is reportedly close to Katz, overtook her.

Gamliel has claimed the recount was "tainted" and filed a petition seeking an injunction against opening the ballot boxes. Her legal team argued that the boxes from Be'er Yaakov remained with the Likud election administrator for eight days after their results were tallied and uploaded, raising serious concerns about their integrity. Despite this, the recount proceeded, and Gamliel filed a police complaint regarding the decision, naming Likud director-general David Sharan, MK Katz, and a security officer.

Katz responded to the controversy via his X account, sarcastically directing any complaints to the address of a specific police unit.
