Gamliel's Husband Files Police Complaint Over Likud Primary Recount in Be'er Ya'akov

Hovav Damari, husband of Minister Gila Gamliel, filed a police complaint on Wednesday against Minister Haim Katz, Likud's CEO David Sharan, and the security company overseeing the primaries. The complaint concerns the recount of ballots in the Be'er Ya'akov polling stations during the Likud party primaries. The recount was ordered following a decision by the party's election committee, chaired by retired judge Menachem Naaman, as announced by Likud on Tuesday night. The party stated that the recount results would be incorporated into the final tally after appeals are heard on Thursday, emphasizing their commitment to election integrity and adherence to the party court and election committee directives.

The preliminary results from Be'er Ya'akov, as shared with several Likud members, showed MK Sasson Guetta leading with 487 votes, followed by May Golan with 433, David Bitan with 370, Ze'ev Elkin with 334, Yoav Kish with 81, Moshe Saada with 36, Dudi Amsalem with 21, and Ofir Katz with 17 votes. A senior Likud official expressed concern over the irregularities, stating that it was unclear who was responsible for these results but that the conduct appeared to border on criminal behavior.
