Yoaz Hendel Joins Yaron Zelicha's Economic Party After Split
As Israeli politics continues to realign ahead of the upcoming 26th Knesset elections, Yoaz Hendel has found a new political home.
Hendel, who previously led the "Miluimnikim" (Reservists) movement and worked with Chili Tropper in the "Beit Tzioni" framework, is set to unite with "The Economic Party" led by Professor Yaron Zelicha. This move comes shortly after Tropper announced a joint run with Gadi Eisenkot, who will be placed sixth on their unified list, with Shira Shapira taking the tenth spot.
The split between Tropper and Hendel became apparent earlier in the day when they announced they would not run together, citing personal decisions despite their long-standing friendship and shared political activities. Underlying factors included negotiation gaps with Eisenkot, who reportedly opposed Hendel's inclusion, while Hendel sought independent faction status, a demand that was not met.
Hendel's decision to join Zelicha offers him a new avenue to pursue a Knesset seat, this time within a different political partnership, aligning with a figure primarily known for his economic focus.
