Victim's Family Pleads to Halt Rumors After Deadly Netanya Shooting

An investigation is ongoing into a shooting incident in Netanya on Saturday night, which resulted in the death of David Hoyer Amrani. His family has appealed to the public to cease spreading rumors and speculation about the event, emphasizing that they are awaiting autopsy results and further information.

"We have a lot to say, and anyone who rushes to spread rumors and nonsense is insolent and harms the honor of our David," the family stated. They added, "Only God knows how this happened, why it happened, and what he went through in those moments. We ask to stop the speculation and allow the family to mourn with dignity."

Hoyer Amrani, who was reportedly carrying a long weapon, caused panic in the city streets before firing at a police force. Officers returned fire, neutralizing him. He later died from his wounds, with no other casualties reported.

The Israel Police confirmed that the circumstances of the incident are under investigation. Hoyer Amrani, who was 18 years old, had recently enlisted in the Border Police in August 2024 and was serving in the West Bank before transferring to a unit there eight months ago. He is survived by his parents and two siblings. The Border Police expressed condolences to the family and pledged continued support.
