Family Questions Fatal Police Shooting of David Amrani in Netanya

The uncle of David Amrani, who was fatally shot by police in Netanya, has questioned the officers' use of lethal force. "Why didn't they shoot at his legs just to neutralize him?" he asked, speaking to Kan News. "At most, to injure him so he remains alive, why kill him?"

Amrani's uncle described the incident as a tragedy, recounting how the family initially struggled to believe the news after hearing gunshots and police sirens. He stated that while he does not blame the police, he questions the necessity of lethal force. "We didn't know of any mental health issues, but maybe something was going on with him," he added.

The uncle remembered David Amrani as a wonderful, good young man and the only son of Esther. He noted that David had insisted on serving in a combat unit, specifically the Border Police (Magav), despite his mother's attempts to dissuade him. "The mother is broken, broken," he said.
